From Kalasatama to Pasila in 15 minutes!
Future Helsinki Relies on Rails
According to forecasts, Kalasatama will host 25 000 residents and 10 000 workplaces in 2040. The tramway we are designing and building is an accessible and safe mode of transport with zero local emissions. It adheres to the objectives of the Carbon-neutral Helsinki 2035 action plan that promotes the increase of sustainable modes of transport.
Our Project in a Nutshell
We are building a 4.5 km tramway from Kalasatama to Pasila as well as affiliated street areas, green lanes, routes for walking and cycling and municipal infrastructure such as utility lines.
Our goal is to start commercial operation of the tramway in the fall of 2024. Once operational, the new tramway will provide a smooth connection between Nihti, Kalasatama Center, Vallilanlaakso and Pasila, linking existing tram, metro and train routes to one another.
